HOOTSUITE CERTIFICATION BLOG POST GRADE (week 15)

 Up until I started my spring semester at LCCC, I had never heard about Hootsuite. I had moments were the site was pretty boring and stuff I knew. On the other hand there was  a lot of new and interesting information that I learned too. I had no issues passing the exam for the certification. It seemed to be pretty straight forward and to the point. It reviewed the information I learned but I did take some time to go back and look over parts that I thought would be needed for on the exam. At times I found myself disagreeing with some questions but I remembered the answers provided in the materials so I went with what I remembered being told was correct on those questions. I am one for privacy so with  ANY social media platform or tool, I will always decide to have my content private regardless if it means losing followers, jobs, etc.  That's just a personal preference I have. With that being said....

 -I would recommend using Hootsuite for anyone new to social media or if they are interested in perusing any form of social media group, business, etc. It's helpful and will make a difference for someone starting out. Now personally I would not pay for any services offered because I feel there is tons of "free" information that is just as accurate and helpful out there.  Again it depends what you are looking to learn and if you want to invest any $$$ into that.

SOCIAL ADVERTISING (Week 10)

 

When asked to pick a favorite company on Twitter this was a no brainer for me. I must start and end my day with Dunkin. My children and friends come to me with all questions pertaining to Dunkin and always ask what's new.  So let's look ahead at just one of many tweets/ads posted and discuss why I picked them besides the obvious reasons. 💓

If you want to grow your business in any way I think it's important to grab the attention of a wide variety of people. This can be tricky but I believe Dunkin succeeds in this every single day. Why & How you ask?!?

1- They are really active on Twitter & many other social media platforms. They will respond to many daily.

2- They are funny and we all need a good laugh! I can always log in to Twitter and giggle on a bad day with Dunkin in my newsfeed.

3- They make clothing, makeup and the list goes on.

4- They sell a wide variety of items and constantly have new foods, beverages and items coming out. 

5- They are cheaper than other "coffee" establishments.

6- They involve popular social media stars etc and name drinks after them aka "The Charli" my all time favorite drink absolutely ever created! #simplebutlovely

The FACTS:

Dunkin has 1.2 million followers on Twitter alone.

They post every single day and I bet you can find at least one tweet that makes you laugh within the last week! Reach out to them and get an answer! With Dunkin there's room to grow, things to learn and tons to warm soul! This is why they will forever be the company I follow. They don't need flashy and fancy ads to reel in their customers! 

FLAVORS OF SOCIAL MEDIA: SIGNAL Messaging App. (Week 9)

What is Signal?

    So, you may be asking what is the Signal messaging app and why should you try it? Well, it's a free, privacy focused messaging and voice talk app in which you can use on Apple or Android smartphones and via desktop too. 

 Pros of SIGNAL

The first thing I noticed was how often the word "privacy" was mentioned when discussing Signal. I always worry about my privacy when it comes to social media. I am an individual who likes to keep life simple and less is more. To have 10+ app's or social media outlets gets a bit overwhelming for me. I am one for Facebook which my kids inform me daily that it's because I am old. 😂I am always willing to try something new if it will aid me in relieving some stress and staying organized though. With Signal your message history is stored locally on the device used and not on the Signal's servers. I know with using Alexa and even when searching Facebook, it seems we are being watched. I could search something random and for the next week I will see ads and popups for that item. It's quite annoying. Because Signal doesn't access this data it can not be shared with third parties which is nice. The first thing noted was how Signal is non-profit. I 100% support non-profit businesses of any kind. Last but not least was the idea of having everything within one app. I can video chat, send photos, send link or conversate and it's private and secure!

Cons of signal

The down side is that you have to register using a phone number. In turn this means that your phone number is being passed on. Also, I am happy with Facebook messenger and my good ole' text messaging. I hate adding yet another icon/app on my phone screen. I think we live in a time where the entire world is into social media regardless of the app and it takes away from personal, one on one interaction which is so important. 

Conclusion

I must admit I had never previously heard about the Signal messaging app. I did some research and over all I do plan to look into it and possibly give it a try but I can't promise I will continue using it long-term. 

META BLOG POST (Week 5)

        If I had to pick one social media outlet that I enjoy and use frequently, it would be Facebook! I don't think that Facebook is complicated to use so people of all ages could learn and connect with those they chose with ease. I have used Facebook since 2010 but I recall when it was a social media platform used strictly for college students only. Now my school aged children tell me it's for old people and I laugh. I know there is pros and cons with all social media platforms but the pros certainly outweigh the cons in my personal opinion. I enjoy scrolling through Facebook daily and seeing what others are up to. I share photos and have conversations with friends and family who are not local anymore. I can create events, raise funds and learn things just from logging on to Facebook. Now let's fast to the name change which was news to me as of this week. I had no idea Meta was now Facebook, along with other popular social media sites. I understand as times change we must adjust and advance as well. I just don't think we need to fix something that isn't broken. I hate change to a certain extent and it scares me at times. Although I am fond of technology, I do see how it has negatively affected our society as a whole. We lack interaction on a personal level and the younger generations lack basic human skills at times. I fear as we advance you will see less in person communication and the family gatherings and phone calls will decrease even more.

 So, if you are like me and have never heard about Meta let us discuss what it is and how it might affect you. Well in simple terms it seems to be a way to combine social media and virtual reality. It may give us a way to use all social media platforms and in a more advance way. I know now we are limited to the icons, live streams and such. From my understanding Meta is a way to advance and stay ahead of the times. I know growing up we would joke about flying cars one day and this makes me giggle as I think about Facebook in 3d. I am sure at one point you can not only video chat with grandma who is states away but virtual reality, social media and technology could make it seem as if you are there in person with grandma? What do you think? I believe anything is possible now a days. I enjoy Facebook as is and I am sure in time we will all adjust to any changes but for now we take the punches as they come and hope for the best!

Surviving Motherhood One Meltdown At A Time (Week #2-February 8th,2022)

Hello,

     My name is Megan and I am from a small rural town in Northeastern, Pennsylvania. I appreciate the smaller things in life but also thrive for adventure. I wake up each and everyday feeling blessed to be alive but also wanting to change the world. I have a huge heart and am willing to give my all in any situation in order to see someone else improve their own life. I am a mom of four beautiful children who keep me on my toes. My children are the reason I breathe but also the reason I need to dye my hair monthly. 😁

I enjoy the beach and exploring nature during the summer time. I look forward to Halloween, football (Go Saints!) and hockey in the fall! Some may say I'm a bit OCD but I call it organization at it's finest. I party plan in my free time and I am the go to person for all party planning needs or that's what my friends would tell you.

I am trustworthy, caring and understanding. I have been through hell and back but still have a smile on my face. I accept the fact that I am far from perfect and would never try to convince anyone otherwise. My life is truly a roller coaster ride at times and it definitely keeps me guessing. 

My greatest accomplishment would be my children. My oldest is 20 and tests my soul daily, while youngest is 5 and will surely be the reason I have a heart attack one day. I would like to think I have some experience when it comes to parenting that I could share with the world and even some entertaining stories as well.

Besides being a mom, party planner and college student, I have spent a year working within a prison but also having to visit a loved who was incarcerated. Addiction has haunted my family for over a century and that is why helping others with addiction is a top goal of mine. I know what it's like to lack advice, help or resources so I hope to provide this to those in need in the future. 

My fun, loving, sarcastic, down to earth and dedicated personality will keep someone guessing but also provide a sense of stability in a world where nothing is certain lately. I would love to offer support for those struggling with addiction but also provide a safe outlet for mom's who like myself have felt alone, overwhelmed or as if they have failed when it comes to mom life. So jump on board and be sure to follow me for entertaining stories, advice or just to feel a sense of normalcy in life. 💓😉
